the minecraft movie should’ve been like the hatchet book, or at least what i remember from it when i first read it years ago.

it should have been about the isolation that comes from being the sole.. you. you build and create, you unlock stories and magic in the form of enchantments and potions and one day you find the nether and the end and then you are met with the voices of two gods, overhearing a conversation about you. and the movie would be mostly silent, there is no reason to speak when there is nobody around to hear.

there should’ve been the first pet wolf. how it died. the grief from spending all day building something only for a creeper to ruin it the moment you’re about to tuck yourself into bed. mining in a cave and nearly falling into lava and having that holy shit moment because you didn’t die, and from then on you never dig straight down.

the pride you feel when your first build is complete. when you get your name tag and give it to your pet wolf. when you get your first diamond tool. making your first crafting table. your first home. tearing it down and making a better one. exploring, trudging across biomes. getting a boat and sailing across what could very well be infinite sea.

maybe it’s just me but that’s the minecraft movie id want. a silent show of how minecraft was to first experience. live action, cgi where everyone is cubic, i don’t really have a preference. i just think that when mice on venus plays at the end credits i would like to be in tears. to close a chapter of my life, go home, and play again. revisit my first world. my first pets. feel like a kid again

instead we have a movie with horrible lighting that looks far too bright to the eye and seems made to appeal to six year old children for a quick buck. mojang just hates us at this point. thank you and goodnight
